Challenge
In April of 2022, CathWorks partnered with Quest International, the leading integrated aftermarket service provider for device manufacturers.
CathWorks, an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) is a company that focuses on digital health innovations used to improve the lives of
patients suffering from cardiovascular disease.
CathWorks had a newly commercialized product that needed to ramp up production and installation to meet an aggressive shared commercial goal with their co-promotion partner, Medtronic. CathWorks planned to leverage Quest International’s capabilities to accelerate its commercial operations and technical service capabilities while expanding its geographic footprint of the CathWorks FFRangio® System.
At the onset, CathWorks was utilizing Quest International for preparation and delivery to customers but was storing inventory at a separate
warehouse, causing shipping delays. Additional Field Service Engineers were also needed to go on-site and perform installations so that the
growth rate would satisfy the aggressive commercialization goal.
“We partnered with Quest because of their vast industry expertise and their ability to provide comprehensive services including depot repairs, field services, supply-chain logistics and other professional services,” said Ramin Mousavi, President & CEO of CathWorks.
Solution
In October of 2022, CathWorks moved their inventory to Quest’s warehouse, which is governed by a Quality Management Systems (QMS) that
include ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2016, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 27001:2022 certifications. This resulted in faster and more flexible shipments
with reduced shipping times and improved storage conditions due to Quest’s humidity and temperature controls.
In response to increased demand in May 2023, CathWorks nearly doubled the initial number of Quest Field Service Engineers, and prompted Quest
to employ a Training Manager to ensure the Field Service Engineers were onboarded quickly
By utilizing Quest’s turn-key field and logistical services, CathWorks was able to focus on rapidly expanding the adoption of its innovative FFRangio technology that allows physicians to transform how their patients with coronary artery disease are diagnosed and treated.
Results
Quest was able to help grow installations nearly five times, from 14 in 2022 to 68 in 2023, a monthly increase from 1.2 to 5.7. The number of states with a CathWorks FFRangio® System increased dramatically from 4 to 32.
CathWorks was able to maintain the increased customer base by utilizing Quest’s in-house service technicians to carry out repairs and Quest’s dedicated call desk to handling all end-user questions. CathWorks is currently on track to meet its goal and is consistently meeting the accelerated installation rate their product success has produced.
“Quest is an ideal partner for innovative emerging tech companies like CathWorks as our comprehensive technical service offerings will allow them to focus on innovation and commercializing the next generation of segment-defining products,” says Pasha Arshadi, VP of Global Service Solutions at Quest.
